Article 1: Every man has a vote in
affairs of the moment; has equal title to the ship’s
provisions, stores, or strong liquors, at any time seized, and
may use them at pleasure, unless a scarcity makes it necessary,
for the good of all, to vote a retrenchment.
Article2: Every man helping take a
prize is to receive a share; all officers assisting in the
capture of a prize shall receive two shares; one share of any
prize taken is to go directly to the ship’s treasury. Any man
caught trying to defraud the company to the value of a prize
shall be marooned. In the event that a man’s share is worth
less than $10 a vote shall be taken to return all shares to the
ship’s treasury.
Article 3: Any man who tries to rob
his brother shall be marooned.
Article 4: No member of the crew is
to game at cards or dice for money with another crew member.
Article 5: Each man is to keep their
piece, pistols, and cutlass, as well as ship’s equipment clean
and in good working service.
Article 6: No boy or woman under the
age of 16 shall be allowed amongst the crew. All members 16
years but not yet 18 shall be known solely as “powder
monkeys”. If any man is found trying to bring a person under
16 amongst the crew they shall pay $25 to the ship’s treasury
upon the first offense and be marooned for a year upon the
second.
Article 7: No striking or prolonged
quarrelling with one another aboard ship, but if two men have
quarrel it is to be settled onshore with sword and pistol.
Article 8: Whosoever is placed on any
sentry and fails to remain diligent at their post in good stead
shall be fined $25 to the ship’s treasury for the first
offense, and shall be marooned upon the second.
