Join Our Crew

The Rhode Island Pirate Players associates with, but is not a part of, the SCA and LHA, as well as several college based history groups.

If you have never been in a re-enactment society before you might be wary of joining a bunch of eccentrics that wear funny clothes and pretend to live in the past.

 Are you train-spotters and anarchists?”

No, but do you have a special interest in pirates and historic life at sea that makes your friends eyes glaze over? Then you’ll love us! Equally, we don’t take ourselves over-seriously.

“Are you dangerous”?

Again, we are not. Combat in RIPP is safe, controlled, sober, and sane. If you are some dangerous nut, we don’t need you!

“Does it cost a fortune?”

Like any other hobby it can cost as much or as little as you are willing to put in. You decide on just how much.

Will I ever be the same again?”

Yes, it is true that in any hobby one can become a little excessive with their interest, even more so with living histories. But for every heart and mind we’ve permanently warped I have yet to hear a complaint.

An old expression states that “it’s a lonely life at sea”, and with good reason. Pirates didn’t often have

families to speak of and were very much the rovers. If you were thinking that this might be a good activity for the wife and kids we remind that we

do not accept children under 16, many events are 21 plus, and we curse as any good pirate should. If you’re willing to overlook all that, welcome aboard!

Well, that’s about it. If you’ve read this you should have a good idea of who we are and what we’re all about. I am the founder and Captain of the organization and you can feel free to contact me with any additional questions you may have. It’s up to you now.
